Is Plastic Really a Problem in Agriculture?

Reliable statistical figures are now 7 years out of date, however in 1999 a global report confirmed that more than 30 million acres* or 12 million hectares are covered in agricultural plastic film each and every year, the vast majority ending up in the waste stream. This is an extraordinary figure that is year on year and the quantity used today will be even greater than that in 1999.

EcoCover New Zealand Limited recently received a single order for 14 kilometers or 8.7 miles of equivalent 1m wide EcoCover mulch mat – a positive step forward in agricultural sustainability.
